Jackie Park

1955 - 2014

Jackie Park, 59 year old former Checotah resident, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014 in Irving, Texas. He was born on Saturday, January 8, 1955 to Ray B. and Thelma (Brooks) Park in Wichita, Kansas. Jackie moved with his family to Tulsa when he was 6 months old, then moved to Checotah at age 4 where he attended school graduating from Checotah High School in 1973.

On June 2, 1973 he married the love of his life, Shirley Jewell in Checotah later moving to Texas where he worked as a welder and diesel mechanic. Jackie began working for Coca Cola in 1985 in maintenance, retiring after 27 years of service in 2007 as the supervisor. He was known as Mr. Fix-It, an avid race car fan of Dale Earnhart, neighborhood helper, and a man who loved to fish and hunt.

Jackie was preceded in death by his dad, Ray; grandparents, uncles and aunt.

He is lovingly survived by his wife of the home, Shirley Park; sons, Brian Ray Park of Checotah and Brad Lee Park and wife Vanessa of Grand Prairie, TX; grandchildren Ray Garrett Park of Wills Point, TX; Gavin Lee Park and Riley Elizabeth Park of Grand Prairie, TX; his mom, Thelma Park of Checotah. Jackie is also survived by his sisters Brenda Kay Nelson of Sherman, TX and Rita Fay Stuble and husband Mike of Bixby, OK; Sister-in-law, Cheryl Keefover and her husband Max of Wagoner and a brother-in-law, Orville Jewell and his wife Pat of Texas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and a lifetime of friends.

Viewing will be from 1-4 PM on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Garrett Family Funeral Home with his family greeting friends from 2-4 PM. Services celebrating the life of Jackie will be held 10 AM Monday, June 23, 2014 at First Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Larry Montgomery officiating. Committal prayers and Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery under the personal direction of John Garrett. Rocky Rogers, Larry Todd, Glen Wilson, Adam Logan, Andy Park and Steve Clark will serve as Casket Bearers.
