Curtis Eugene “Woody” Woodfork, Sr.

1934 - 2009

Curtis Eugene Woodfork, Sr., was born on September 2, 1934, re-born on March 27, 1994, lived a full life of 75 years, and was granted peaceful rest on September 23, 2009. His parents were Frank and Sally Striblen Woodfork. He attended Warrior and Galilee Elementary, Rentiesville High School, and graduated from Connors State College. He served in the Navy for 4 years and often proudly spoke of this experience. He was united in marriage to Elouise Jones, and to this union 6 children were born. This union later dissolved. He was united in marriage to Margaret Grayson on June 9, 1982, and enjoyed a happy marriage for 27 years and 3 months. He worked on various jobs, retiring from OG&E; in 1994, and continued to work part time jobs. He indicated that his most rewarding job was the Muskogee County Transit where he was helping Senior Citizens.

He was known to many as “Gene” and particularly like being called “Woody”. Gene loved to travel but also enjoyed the comforts of his home and was always hospitable to all who came to his home. Two of this favorite pastimes were sitting on the porch killing flies, and relaxing in the Den while TV watched him snooze. He was a family man, a hard worker, and even scholarly; specifically well versed in history. Gene achieved many things during his lifetime and gave a lot of himself to others. But nothing made him as happy and complete as giving his life to Christ. This Glorious day was March 27, 1994. Gene was faithful in his church attendance and service until the very end on this side of his heavenly home.

The sweet memories of him will always be treasured by all who knew and loved him. Those include his wife, Margaret, children, Michael (Charlene) Woodfork, Seattle, WA, Stanley Woodfork, New Orleans, LA, Jeanine Woodfork, Tulsa, OK, Curtis Woodfork, Jr., Dallas, TX, Ray Woodfork, Checotah, OK, and Joselyn (Duane)) McClellan, Tulsa, OK, step-children, Kevin Melton and Lori Wilson, both of Los Angeles, CA, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
