Softball boosts economy

Johnny Teehee is right — Muskogee has a wonderful sports complex in Love-Hatbox, and the facility should be utilized as much as possible.
Teehee, a Muskogee police officer, encouraged the Oklahoma chapter of the American Softball Association to hold adult men’s and coed tournament classifiers here this month. Muskogee hosts several youth tournaments, but according to Teehee, this will be the first time in 15 or 20 years for a tournament like this.
The city and private businesses and contributors have built top-notch ball fields at Hatbox. They are used heavily now, but there’s room for more use, and tournaments, as we all know, attract out-of-town teams that boost the local economy.
More use means more maintenance will be needed at the complex, but that’s a good problem to have. We’d like to see others, like Teehee, bring other tournaments here.
