When Iran gets to the top By David GerardPhoenix Staff Writer And not just the Iranians. Russia, too.
Russia always has wanted to dominate the world. It doesn’t matter whether the tsars were in power, the communists or now Putin. And Putin has to gall to tell us we can’t put missiles in the Czech Republic. Who is he to tell us where we can put missiles? Doesn’t he know we won the Cold War? We’re on top. We’re toddling some, but we’re still on top. The Russians had their chance at world domination and they blew it. They couldn’t get a man to the moon, they couldn’t keep Boris Yeltsin — God rest his soul — sober, and they they’re wasting their wealth of oil and gas on what they’ve always wasted their wealth on, corruption, tyrants and despots. Our presidents may have told a few lies, but hey, we’re still good people. That’s what Alexis de Tocqueville said 200 years ago. Not many have said it since, except us, but hey, somebody did. The Iranians will be sorry if they make it to the top of world power. It’s not what it’s cut out to be. One day you wake up and find out everybody hates you and your Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have gone broke. Oh, you Iranians. Go ahead and fire your missiles. You’ll see. To write GerardClick Here
