THE PEOPLE SPEAK - Infrastructure updating should please residents

I am writing in response to the Letter to the Editor on Dec. 26. In it, the writer was complaining the Public Works Department was needlessly improving the roads and highways only for visitors or prospective business owners to see when they visit the city.

That could not be further from the truth. The roads most travelled by Muskogee residents and visitors, alike, were improved to improve the quality of life for all.  The Director of Public Works, Mike Stewart, recently stated the neighborhood streets will be improved next.

Muskogee residents should be happy with the start of a major push to improve the infrastructure of Muskogee. These improvements come in small increments due to scheduling and project priority.

I want to thank the City of Muskogee Foundation and the Department of Public Works in their efforts to improve the quality of life for all Muskogee residents.
