Amid the third or fourth serving of turkey and dressing today, amid the football, the family, the napping and the camaraderie, take a few minutes and reflect on the true meaning of Thanksgiving and just be thankful.
The Phoenix wishes you and your family the best of Thanksgivings.
It’s often easier to think of all the bad things in the world than the good things.
But as we celebrate today, let us not lose sight of all for which we have to be thankful.
Be thankful for the men and women who are willing to defend our country.
Be thankful for those willing to risk their lives every day for your protection — firefighters, law enforcement officers and other first-responders.
Be thankful for the local American Red Cross, which helps out so many families in their time of needs.
Be thankful for the local United Way chapter, which helps fund 18 local organizations.
Be thankful for the Salvation Army, which also helps those in need and spearheads the Angel Tree.
Be thankful for the many churches and organizations that help Muskogee be the great community it is.
Be thankful for our teachers, who help mold our future every day.
