Wallace best choice for D.C.

The race for the 2nd Congressional District seat being vacated by Dan Boren offers the most intriguing of all the local elections.

It has no incumbent.

It has no candidate with experience as an elected legislative official.

It has an independent candidate.

Each of the three candidates would bring good skills to the job.

Independent Michael G. Fulks is most intriguing.

Fulks financed his campaign without the aid of funding from special interest groups.

That enabled him to voice an opinion without feeling beholden to anyone.

He added an element to the two-party system we would like to see in future elections.

Republican Markwayne Mullin is a businessman.

Mullin says his No. 1 legislative priority would be to get us out of debt. That point is difficult to ignore.

Democrat Rob Wallace, we believe, would best represent the Muskogee area in Washington, D.C.

He has experience in elected office as a former district attorney.

Wallace says consumers drive 70 percent of an economy. That makes us believe he would be in favor of strengthening  the middle class’ buying power to dig us out of this economic hole.

All three would bring more than adequate representation for our community.

On the whole, the Phoenix Editorial Board believes Wallace offers the most complete package of the three.
