THE PEOPLE SPEAK - Christians don’t evolve; they are born again

I am replying to the letter to the editor sent by Mr. Rusty Lane of Checotah: I’m sorry that you, Mr. Lane, were talked about behind your back in a church setting. Christians don’t “evolve;” they are born again by accepting God’s Word for salvation.

In your letter (Nov. 6, 2013), you say that you are “a Christian and right with God.” If you were “right with God,” then you would not be a participant in a homosexual lifestyle as God Himself said in (Lev. 20:13), “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination (the two men”). This conduct is a bad choice, because it is contrary to God’s pattern for human relationships.

If you want to be “right with God,” then you need to repent (turn from your way unto God’s way) about this lifestyle. (2 Peter 3:9), “The Lord is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” Heb. 13:8 says that Jesus (God) is “the same character yesterday, today and forever.” That means if He said this lifestyle was sin in the Old Testament, it is also sin in the New Testament (Rom. 1:26-27, 31-32)  and (1 Cor. 6:9-11)  and  must be repented of.

The faith to get saved or be born again is a gift from God you receive when you repent and confess wrong action (sin) then invite Jesus to come into your heart and receive forgiveness for all  wrong behavior then you are saved.

You are correct when you say that “it does not matter what other people say about you” and your choices; it is God’s word that is the standard for obedience. Jesus’ finished work on the cross was to set the sinner free from every sin including living a lifestyle contrary to His Word. His Word says a person is “disqualified” from a right relationship with God until repentance occurs.  No repentance, no salvation or qualification for righteousness.
