Freedom comes at a sacrifice

Pretty much everything we have that is worthwhile in this world was brought to you by the sacrifice of the men and women who served or serve in the military.

You think getting a quality education is the sole result of your local school board?

Imagine living in a country where girls are threatened, beaten or killed if they so much as have a schoolbook in their possession.

That can’t happen in the United States.

And not just because of our Constitution.

It can’t happen here, in good part, because there are men and women who are willing to defend our Constitution with their lives.

Don’t take worshipping your god for granted.

There are countries in the world where there is one established religion and you are not allowed to practice your chosen faith.

That does not happen here, in good part, because there are people willing to die to protect your rights — including your right to freedom of religion.

You don’t like the way this country is being run?

There are far too many countries in this world where you would not be heard from again if you dared to voice a dissenting opinion from those in charge.

Who gives you that ability? Our military — the men and women who are willing to die for their country.

We salute all those who have served in the military.

But we especially bow our heads and give thanks for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

We hope you enjoy this Memorial Day weekend.
