New store offers more hope

Muskogee’s Salvation Army Family Store offers shoppers a chance at bargains and to help their community at the same time.

The Salvation Army held a grand opening Friday for the Family Store’s new location — 2328 E. Shawnee Bypass.

The Salvation Army moved the store from South Main Street to a location at Curt’s Mall.

The store has had tremendous success since its opening.

Salvation Army officials said the old location took in about $300 to $500 per day in sales.

Since the move, the new store is raking in an average of $1,200 per day.

The $700 to $900 growth spurt creates the funds necessary to help our neighbors in need.

“The better our family stores do, the more we are able to put back into programs and services,” said Cindy Fuller, director of communications for the Arkansas-Oklahoma Division of the Salvation Army.

“And, bottom line, that means we get to impact more lives in need in Muskogee.”

Lts. Jason and Chelsea Sebo played a big role in moving the store from South Main to Shawnee Bypass.

Their efforts and the efforts of all those involved in making the new location a reality were praised Friday by Maj. Steve Morris, commander of the Arkansas-Oklahoma Division.

We echo that praise.

The Salvation Army does good work, and the new location should bring in more money to expand on that foundation.
