THE PEOPLE SPEAK — Payne will pave way for Muskogee County

— I’ve known Kenny Payne for 19 years. When I heard Kenny was running for this office I was elated. I love when fellow Christians run for office.

When I first came to Muskogee in 1995 I was in search for a church home. We found more than just a church home, we found a family. One of the first things I witnessed was sweet Julie Payne, Kenny’s wife. Julie was very ill. She was having severe complications from Type 1 diabetes. She was blind and on kidney dialysis. To watch Kenny Payne take care of her was like nothing I had ever seen before. Not long after we came to Muskogee she passed away. Kenny loved her and was devoted to her until the very end of her life. I know that he will be devoted to the county in that same constant way.

Approximately two years later Kenny became our deacon at Timothy Baptist Church. I have been a pastor’s daughter for 32 years. In telling you that, I’ve seen a lot of wonderful deacons and some not so wonderful. Kenny Payne has been an amazing deacon. He is what you see. He’s a very dependable deacon. He’s a man of integrity. He makes sure the members of our church are taken care of. Kenny is honest. He will not make promises to the people of District 3, he can not fulfill. My family love and respect this man, and so will Muskogee County District 3. Kenny will pave the way.
