THE PEOPLE SPEAK — Obama administration should be transparent

Obama promised a transparent administration in his run for president. The dictionary list “without guile or concealment, open, clear” as a few meanings of transparency. Obama’s first term started without transparency about his birth certificate. It took months before the whole certificate was released. Why? The delay caused some people to believe he was hiding something. After all we all have birth certificates and most of the time they are easy to find.

There are many of us Americans who regard the office of president as a God-given honor that requires the highest deportment. Appearing on TV talk shows, Hollywood parties, calling sports figures etc. is not the job of the President of the United States. I have wanted to call out to him, “Obama go to your office in the White House and do the work we elected you to do. We have problems in our country that need your attention.”

If he had used the time reaching out to those that also have the responsibility to govern this land, we just might not be in the mess we find ourselves. I wonder how much it cost the taxpayers to operate Air Force One for all the travel he has done and the added protection cost. Some of his staff and appointments have made questionable decisions, some just mistakes and some just wrong and maybe criminal.

The buck stops at your desk, Mr. President, and transparency should start there. Let us hope that in the rest of your term you keep your promise of transparency.
