THE PEOPLE SPEAK – GOP pushes down taxes to serve rich

— Do the working people ever wonder why it takes the average family 47 years to make as much as the average hedgefund honchos make in one hour? Does it ever bother you that in 2012 after the crash, the top 25 chiefs each made as much as 685,000 teachers who are educating 13 million children?

The super rich are spending hundreds of millions of dollars to sell you their fabrications. The super rich want us to believe that any effort to tax them more will only kill more jobs and harm our economic well-being. I am old enough to remember when the very rich were taxed at 91 percent after deductions, and the economy was good. The Republicans have constantly lowered the tax rate for the wealthy, and the wealthy, in return, constantly pay for their re-election.

The truth is there is an easy way to deal with the deficit, and doing so without attacking the elderly, the children, or the poor. We have to eliminate the loopholes in the tax laws so that they can’t use the offshore tax shelters. It is so rampant that the Cayman Islands are now “home” to over 18,000 American corporations. If this was eliminated, it would mean more than $582 million in revenue for the country in the next 10 years.

Having read three different articles about our newly elected Representative, Markwayne Mullin, I find that he has already changed from his campaign statements to the old Republican standbys. He no longer talks about working across the aisle, but it now spouting that he will vote “No” on everything that the Democrats propose. That makes him a typical GOPer.

It appears that we no longer have representation in the house of Congress. Maybe we can change that in the next election.
