THANK YOU 06.14.14

— EVERY SUCCESSFUL  event is a team effort. The 2014 Garden Club Tour was yet another great example. I personally want to thank Nancy Gassaway for her support with volunteers and Jan Ward for her help recruiting our featured gardens, and all the other Garden Club members who so willingly gave up their Saturday to participate in our showcase of Muskogee gardens event.

Thank you to everyone who came to experience the beautiful efforts of the true stars: the people who toiled to make their home gardens so inviting. A personal thanks to  David and JoAnn Clark, whose unusual rock treatments in front and around their home were intriguingly mingled with plantings. Larry and Nancy Hoffman's koi pond was a hit not only because of the waterfall, but because of the number of baby fish, a testimony to the happy, healthy environment in a well-tended garden. Thanks to Randy and Leslie Scott for the demonstration of a total renewal for a mid-century home’s landscaping, creating a beautiful, new outdoor oasis. Harvey and Kay Price are show-stopper gardeners whose endless efforts at cultivation, colorful plantings and even fabulous Christmas decor make it a highlight for the whole community, worth driving by at any time of year. The Muskogee Garden Club thanks each of these homeowners for their generous offer to be a featured home and their efforts on our behalf.

I WANT EVERYONE to know that I had a wonderful experience this morning. It was pouring rain and I’m a 68-year-old woman who is very independent, but I fell in front of the door trying to get into the courthouse.

A wonderful “Good Samaritan” named Allan Jackson reached out and said, “Let me help you, Ma’am.” I told him I was too heavy but he picked me up by my left arm.

I was so thankful and still want to cry because he really touched my heart. We all need to be here for each other because that is exactly what Jesus said, “Love one another.”

ON BEHALF of the family of Ruth Pauline Glenn, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the owners and complete staff of Pleasant Valley Nursing Home for the excellent care given to Mom during her stay there. The compassion from the entire staff will never be forgotten. Many of the daily crew shared with us just how much they loved Mom. We will all miss her.

Bradley Funeral Home was equally compassionate and helpful during the preparation for Mom’s funeral services. The staff was available to us almost 24/7. We are forever grateful to Frank Smith, Shane Allen, and others who treated Mom with the dignity she so deserved. They were very professional but still loving and kind.

Thank you to those who called, sent e-mails, texts, sent flowers and food, visited or just kept us in your prayers. Thank you.
