Salute our veterans with valentines

If you don’t like Valentine’s Day, here’s a reason to start.

If you don’t celebrate the holiday, here’s a new way you can.

Officials at Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center are encouraging everyone to participate in National Salute to Veteran Patients Week.

Individuals and groups may deliver valentines to the hospital through Saturday, said Greg Sorenson, chief of VA Voluntary Service.

This gives a chance to support those who have supported us through their service.

Individuals may sign up to visit with veterans, too.

National Salute to Veteran Patients Week wraps up Saturday. The purpose of the program is to:

• Pay tribute and express appreciation to veterans.

• Increase community awareness of the role of the VA Medical Center.

• Encourage citizens to visit hospitalized veterans and to become involved as volunteers.

Do your part and brighten a veteran’s day by giving them a valentine.
