The Republicans in Congress have spent more than $50 million of taxpayer money and 40 times trying to get PPACA (Obamacare) overturned.
I assume most people wanting to cut government assistance are not in the group of four out of five adults that report problems with joblessness, near poverty, or dependence on welfare for part of their lives.
Our country is changing for the better even though there is a widening gap between the rich and poor. There is no comparison to the depression era when my sister and I were starving. Medical services were often nonexistent, especially if you were poor. You just suffered through illnesses and died. Yes, we still have crime and poor people, but there is more support now even though many would like to cut government assistance.
People who got rich off foreign wars, that put our country so far in debt, continue to influence our government. People should vote, contact representatives, and use media resources to keep companies and individuals from dictating policies and undesirable changes.
Our country has a great future and I and my comrades in war contributed, during service and afterward, to improving it over that of my childhood.
