Turn out to show support for museum

If you support the idea of an interactive art and science center in Muskogee, turn out tonight for Tinker Fest at the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.

The museum would offer exhibits and programs on the arts and sciences.

“We see the museum as a place for families,” said Derryl Venters, a retired educator and president of the center’s board. “It will be an environment where people can have hands-on activities, not only children, but adults.”

Tickets are $50 for individuals or $75 for families. The event offers creative activities for children and adults.

Tinker Fest is an initial fundraiser for the museum, to be located in the Depot District, Venters said.

That the city could have an interactive art and science center is an ambitious and exciting idea. The money for the tickets will be more than just funding. It will show your support for the concept of museum.

For such a venture to succeed, the citizens of Muskogee must be willing to back the museum with both their money and their attendance.

Tonight is your night. If you want the city to have such a venue, put your money where your heart is.
