Volunteer to help your schools

— Muskogee Public Schools needs you.

The school system will pass out 2,600 laptop computers to students starting Dec. 3.

Volunteers are needed to help with distribution at Muskogee High School, Alice Robertson Junior High and with distribution to older students at Ben Franklin Science Academy.

“We’ll need at least 32 volunteers a night,” said MPS IT Director Eric Wells. “They will help us pass out the laptops and backpacks.”

Volunteers also are needed to man refreshment tables during the rollouts, he said.

This rollout is part of the 1:1 initiative that will eventually have computers in the hands of every Muskogee Public Schools student. It is a big, exciting change.

It is also a big job.

We are all busy. Our lives are filled with appointments, commitments and obligations. It is easy to complain. But complaining accomplishes nothing. Volunteering can be hard, but it accomplishes much. Give your time and energy to making this dramatic change happen for our children and our schools.

When you do, you become part of the solution. You can be proud to be an instrument of change in your community. You can be proud to be a part of a dramatic shift at Muskogee Public Schools, one voters set in motion when we passed the last school bond issue.

You can be on hand as a new era is launched at Muskogee Public Schools.

Find the time to help.
