THE PEOPLE SPEAK – A few suggestions for Muskogee brand

— This letter is written in reply to any who suggest Muskogee — Warrior City. Do not go there please. The name “Warrior” belongs to all Native Americans. It is also culturally and historically associated with Bacone College and after 124 years stands on its own. After the mistreatment endured by all the Native Americans (red man) over the last 521 years, it is disrespectful to claim city credit by misusing a beloved reference from a lost past.

The city of Muskogee was called the “Queen City of the Southwest,” by Dub West in his 1972 Centennial Edition. This book alone has many facts, names, incidents that suggest names to be considered, again.

The following is a list of names based on Early Days.

1, Queen City of the Southwest; 2, River Queen City; 3, Agency City; 4, Mission City; 5, Three Rivers City; 6, Phoenix City; 7, The Hub City; 8, Indian Nation City; 9, Reborn City; 10, Territory City; 11, Eagle Spirit City; 12, Red Dirt Cowboy City.

In addition, I have compiled some names based on first-hand experience, and some based on humor/reality. All, at no cost, from yours truly.

1, Tombstone City; 2, Boomerville City; 3, Twisted Treatysburg City; 4, Broken Axle City; 5, Crater Road City; 6, Hole in the Road City;  7, Coal Ash Rain City; 8, Resurrection City; 9, Destination Station City; 10, Demolition Derby City; 11, Vision of Light City; 12, End of the Trail City.

There you have just a ‘short list’. If you feel obligated to pay me for this list please call. Yes, I am a veteran.
