THE PEOPLE SPEAK – Republican politicians forget the military

Our good ol’ senior senator, good ol’ what’s-his-name looped the loop, barrel-rolled and donut-holed over really exciting downtown Muskogee. Golly, gee I’m so underwhelmed. For his very grand salary, he can’t even do his job inside the beltway. He claimed he is for the troops. He must mean for the other side. In my 60-plus years associated with the military, I have never seen a Republican pol do a thing for this country or the military. The Army is 100,000 bodies short. The Navy has very, very few ships with full crews. It would take months for Navy air groups to become combat-qualified. Oh yeah, our senior (whatever) is the ranking member on the Armed Forces Committee.

I’m getting more upset by the day. I’ll tell my wife to charge Republicans for my burial. They really can afford it.

My DI’s could have got 30 years in a federal prison for their assaults on various platoon members. My DI’s will get to Heaven even if I have to storm it myself. They worked 80-hour weeks for what was very little pay. Our beltway pols work 120-plus days a year, 12 hours a week. They are in the top 3 percent of American wage-earners! ... I spent 20 years working with people who had valor and honor. All Repub pols have is whole lot of money. All that ‘dust’ will turn to ‘dust’ in hell.

John McCain had every bit of valor and honor. Now he’s an old man who has forgotten what he once was.
