Don’t dodge Red Cross tournament

Anyone who’s seen the movie “Dodgeball” — and many who haven’t — have heard the line “If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.”

That’s generally the first thing that comes to mind when the word dodgeball comes up now.

Disasters, however, can’t be dodged. If you can dodge a disaster, events like the Muskogee Red Cross’ “Dodging for Disasters” dodgeball tournament wouldn’t be necessary.

The tournament, which is March 8, is one of the Muskogee Area Chapter’s largest fundraisers.

It’s a worthy cause and a fun event. The prize — a giant, golden wrench — is a nod to the movie.

Last year’s tournament drew a record 24 teams and raised $3,990.96, just shy of its $4,000 goal, Muskogee Chapter Director Ryan Hardaway said.

We encourage everyone to sign up and participate in this fun and unique event.
