THE PEOPLE SPEAK — U.S. wouldn’t thrive in one-party system

This letter is in response to all of the letters by Mr. June and others that are continually published in this paper. These letters do nothing but excoriate the Republican party and inflate the Democrats.

Can’t you people grasp the fact of how catastrophic it would be to eliminate either party and convert this nation to a one-party system?

The one over-riding fact is that there is a snowball’s chance in hell that this will ever happen, so all of these rants do nothing except show how biased and uninformed you are.

The real truth is that both sides have made their fair share of mistakes. Until this country commits to working together things are only going to get far worse than they are now and all of your rants either do nothing or quite possibility make things worse.

I am an independent by choice because I refuse to allow anyone to tell me how to vote. I am not loyal to either party. I am only loyal to the United States of America and will remain so for the rest of my life.

I am 69 years old and have voted for both parties in the past. I have not been happy with some that won that I didn’t vote for but I have never, nor will I ever, rant about it in public.

I believe that everyone should be allowed to make up their own mind without having to read any biased opinion written by someone that really doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

Mr. June falsely stated in his March 2 letter that the GOP has been pushing for a civil war for decades and that (by his account) the shooting will start in 2015. Comments like that are at the most incendiary, but are also biased, unfounded, counterproductive but most of all they are simply beyond stupid (think of Allen Grayson). He also stated that he wished the GOP would just go away. My wish is that he and some of the others would go first.
