THE PEOPLE SPEAK —Last letter reflects reality

My last letter published has caused two Republicans to write letters in opposition to my opinions.

I want to thank Mr. Sewell for his letter, but it wasn’t my military experience that makes me speak out, it’s my history teaching experience.

I was rather amused by H.R. Ford’s letter. He wrote in answer to the information in my previous letter dealing with the tax evaders who maintain offices in the Cayman Islands. I guess that he thinks that the rich evading taxes is OK.

Mr. Ford jumped all over the Democratic presidents, but I would like to remind him that George Bush did exactly what the Harding/Hoover administration did to cause the Great Depression and that information is deduced from my history book. That’s reality. By the way, the reason all those business addresses are in Delaware is because that state has the lowest taxes in the United States, and where they actually do business has nothing to do with where they pay their taxes from.

Tax neutrality is that all taxes are equal, but that might be OK if all income was equal. However compare the millions paid the CEO’s to the pittance paid to the worker. That is the meaning of Reagan’s “trickle down economics.”

Mr. Thompson states that the information in my letter was “off base,” and that I should accept reality. Actually everything that I wrote is the truth. None of it was my opinion. The information was taken from the research that I had done from very reliable news sources.

I accept reality and that is why I bash the current Republicans. I do it because they continue to support those extremely wealthy tax evaders, and make the poorer working American pay for the operation of the government.
