There are some things money cannot buy. Take for instance, a cowboy climbing on the back of a mad bull, hoping to ride eight seconds to win a money prize. While the cowboy would enjoy the money, he also would like the rodeo reputation for having lasted eight seconds, the goal for achieving such a feat. Someone has said, “we can’t have it both ways.”
It might take a politician eight seconds to decide to do the right thing to help the people who voted for him/her at the risk of losing that seat (position) in the next election. Or, how about the scenario of a high profile executive of an organization which promotes gun ownership? It would not take him eight seconds to change his mind if his own child were killed in a mass shooting. Maybe, maybe not. There are other groups that spew hate and violence and anarchy. Why? Only they know. Hence, the reason for this letter.
