I was thinking Tuesday of the Thanksgiving Holidays I’ve spent “elsewhere”; 1964 Korea, 1966 Germany, 1967 Vietnam and 1977 Korea again. This Thanksgiving holiday, I’m thankful for those of you, my brothers and sisters in arms, who have and are shouldering the burden, have and continue to stand the watch away from family back home as I have in the past.
I also thought of the ones at home while I was “elsewhere,” sometimes not even knowing where I was, or maybe not even knowing I was gone. To you who have family members who are not home, many in harm’s way to share the bounty that is ours, I wish you comfort in the knowledge that what your loved one is doing is important, necessary and needed.
To you all I wished you a peaceful, thoughtful and bounteous Thanksgiving. There will be many gone for the Christmas holidays but the importance of missions are still there and always will be.
May you all be at peace and may God bless you each and every one.
