Mural to honor artist great idea

— The Muskogee Area Arts Council has a great idea — and it needs our help to bring it to fruition.

Art council members want to update an art concept developed by the late Roger Davis, who served on the MAAC board.

Davis envisioned his “Running Mustangs” mural on the Muskogee Public Schools parking garage on Main Street between Broadway and Court Street. It would replace the cattle mural.

The concept for a new mural includes a three-dimensional image of Davis’ outline to make it appear as if he were standing in front, painting the wall.

It’s just a great idea and tribute to incorporate him painting the mural.

MAAC hopes to complete the project before the Azalea Festival, but it needs help to secure the funds.

Davis deserves this honor, so we hope the money can be secured.
