Swon Brothers set example

Zach and Colton Swon are setting a great example.

The brother duo from here were a fan favorite as part of Team Blake on NBC’s “The Voice” earlier this year. Now they are writing and securing songs for their major label debut album, with a first single due in the spring of 2014, according to a media release from Sony Music Nashville.

Good for them. These young men have worked hard for their success and deserve the recognition.

Even more importantly, they continue to give of themselves in their hometown.

The brothers have committed to help with Salvation Army fundraising here. They are headlining a “Beyond Bell Ringing” benefit concert Thursday evening.

Local Salvation Army officials expect the duo’s fame will provide a big boost to the fundraising.

“Right now, we don’t have any projections of what we’ll raise, but we’re expecting considerably more,” said Lt. Jason Sebo, corps officer with the Muskogee Salvation Army.

Local folks supported the Swon Brothers when they finished third on “The Voice.”

Seeing them support their community puts them first in our eyes.
