THE PEOPLE SPEAK — Tribes should complain about health care

My previous letter to the editor I complained about the Indian Healthcare System. I stated some specifics about my wife.

Indian Health Services Contract Health approved follow-up appointments with the cardiologist who placed the stent in my wife’s heart. Well, she is having chest pain and some other symptoms that the doctor wants to go back in her heart and place another stent in one artery that was 40 percent blocked when he placed the first one. Now again she has to go through Contract Health for approval. It has been a week and nothing yet.

Are they going to wait until she has another heart attack and hope we are together and I can get her to the ER in time? And if so they will say they don’t have the funds.

I ask that the members of the Indian tribes in Oklahoma read this and will complain about the substandard health care.

And again, the money from the casinos were to improve health care. I ask why W.W. Hastings hospital does not have their own MRI or CT scan. If you need one of those tests done it has to go through Contract Health and it is contracted out. That is if you don’t get a letter from them stating it is not a medical necessity or they currently don’t have the funds. So what happened to the $100 million of federal money they received?
