A joint tutoring program between Alice Robertson and the Muskogee Teen Center is helping students build confidence and improve in the classroom.
Students who need help in reading or math attend the Teen Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Tutoring sessions go from the time students arrive — around 3:30 p.m. — and last until 5 p.m. Then, they’re free to do Teen Center activities.
The program began earlier this month, and teachers already report progress.
“More of them are passing their subjects and fewer are failing their subjects,” AR Principal Peggy Jones said.
This appears to be a great partnership. The program gives students tutoring they need in a great atmosphere. Students can interact with their peers after studying is finished by playing basketball, table tennis, or any of the other Teen Center’s activities.
We hope the program builds off its success and is a staple for years to come.
