NSU-CSC agreement a good fit

Connors State College and Northeastern State University have proven to be great partners in education. They recently cemented that relationship even further.

NSU and Connors officials signed an agreement Monday allowing NSU students to transfer some of their NSU credits back to CSC to complete their associate degree requirements. The process is known as a reverse transfer.

Ron Ramming, CSC’s vice president of academic and student affairs, said many students who leave Connors for other colleges might have one or two classes they had not completed at Connors, thus leaving them short of an associate’s degree.

Instead of staying at CSC one semester for those classes, the student can take the class at the four-year college and transfer the credits back to CSC, Ramming said. That way, the student earns credit to get the associate degree from CSC, he said.

NSU has a similar agreement in place with Tulsa Community College and seeks to have agreements with all two-year colleges in its service area. And CSC is working on similar agreements with other universities.

It should come as no surprise that the two institutions were able to come together for this initiative. NSU and CSC have several working relationships already.

This is just another of the great agreements the two institutions share. It shows both Connors’ and Northeastern’s commitment to furthering education in the area and that they care about their students.

And that’s what it’s all about.
