THE PEOPLE SPEAK – Wallace was not right candidate

— I’m a life-long 58-year-old Muskogee-born-and-raised Democrat. “How far have the mighty fallen?” is my lament. I’m no quitter when it comes to politics, because politics is how democracy works; it’s not pretty, but it’s the motor oil of the vehicle we call the USA — and the state of Oklahoma.

I know that Oklahoma has become about as Red as a razorback’s derriere, but I was hoping that the 2nd District would send another Democrat to Washington to represent the issues, concerns, and needs of the working poor, the working class, and the middle class of Eastern Oklahoma. I am amazed at the Tulsa/Stilwell political axis that has been created to launch the candidacy, and now the Congressman, Markwayne Mullin; it is really a marvel to behold. Those rich Tulsans really know how to build a machine and put forth, well, I’ll say a “candidate.” Make no mistake he is a creature of Tulsa and the upper, urban class who summoned him forth, paid his bills, and tell him what to say and do. His victory was assured by the lame, listless, and arrogant campaign that Rob Wallace chose to “run.”

You can’t out-Republican a Republican in a race. What’s the point? The Republican election strategy of inflaming the wedge issues of gays, guns, and God (well, their perception of him) has brought them many victories since 1980 all over the country. But Rob Wallace shot himself in the foot in this race, and has no one to blame but himself. Blaming the “anger with the president we see here in Oklahoma” Wallace sounds about as incredulous as Mitt Romney in defeat.

The citizens, veterans, and taxpayers of Eastern Oklahoma deserve far better than Markwayne Mullin.

In the next two years the 2nd District needs a REAL DEMOCRAT to represent the needs, issues, wants, hopes, and dreams of the working poor, the working class, and the middle class of Oklahoma.

Putting forth a straw dog like Rob Wallace ain’t gonna cut it.
