THE PEOPLE SPEAK - Ask those you trust about current DA

On June 24, 2014, the voters of Muskogee County are going to be confronted with one of the more important decisions that they have had to make in some time regarding a candidate in an election. The office of the District Attorney is being sought by the incumbent and two challengers — Orvil Loge and Rodney Brook.

As a practicing criminal defense lawyer in this country I will report to you that there are a few problems within the D.A.’s office. As a resident of this community, and whose family resides here, there are tremendous problems with the Muskogee District Attorney’s Office.

During the next few days, if you have the opportunity, speak with anybody that you know and trust who has contact with the courthouse on a regular basis, whether that be law enforcement, court personnel, county officers, or other attorneys.

The District Attorney is the chief law enforcement officer for the county. Our current district attorney does not have the support of those whom he represents, whether it be the Highway Patrol, Sheriff’s Office, local police departments, game wardens, U.S. Attorney’s Office or whomever it may be. All those relationships have been strained over the past few years due to the actions of the incumbent.

I have made allegations against the District Attorney’s Office for illegal courthouse surveillance and jury tampering. While those allegations were not fully substantiated, there continues to be a stench regarding the district attorney and those activities.

I encourage you to conduct a bit of research on your own, ask questions of those whom you trust and make an informed decision when you cast your ballot on June 24, 2014.
