NCAA golf

COLUMBIA REGIONAL — Oklahoma State fired a 272 during its first round at the NCAA Columbia (Mo.) regional on Thursday to stand in first place at The Club at Old Hawthorne.

The Cowboys’ 16-under total put them nine shots clear of Missouri, 13 ahead of third-place Virginia and 16 ahead of Arkansas. OSU had four players break par and finish the day in the top 10 individually en route to building its lead. Sophomore Jordan Niebrugge shot 65 to lead senior teammate Talor Gooch by two strokes.

EUGENE REGIONAL — Oklahoma shot 280 and trails Oregon by four after one round of the NCAA Eugene (Ore.) Regional. The Sooners have a six-stroke cushion over third-place South Carolina and North Florida.

Michael Gellerman and teammate Beau Titsworth shot  1-under 69s and are among five golfers tied  for sixth. Patrick Rodgers of Stanford shot a 4-under 66 for a one-stroke lead over two golfers at the 6,990-yard par-70 Eugene Country Club.

NCAA D-II — NSU freshman Baylee Price landed in a tie for 20th after Thursday’s second round of the 2014 NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championship, which is being held at the par-71, 5,928 yard Rock Barn Golf and Spa.

Price improved her second round results from day one by four strokes and currently sits tied for 20th after carding a 73. Leading the pack is Maria Paolo Fiorio from Barry, who shot even par and sits in first. Lynn University ends round two with a total team score of 591 to sit in first
