OU 7, UC RIVERSIDE 0 –
Michelle Gascoigne struck out a career-high 16 batters in Oklahoma’s 7-0 win over UC Riverside at the Campbell/Cartier Classic in San Diego, Calif.

In giving up just two hits, Gascoigne recorded the ninth shutout of her career.

Keilani Ricketts and Lauren Chamberlain each homered for OU, and the Sooners have now hit at least two home runs in all six games this year.

Ricketts went 2-2 with a walk and drove in three runs. The home run was her second of the season and 37th of her career, tying her for sixth all-time at OU.

OSU SPLITS – Oklahoma State’s softball team defeated North Texas 8-0 following a 3-1 extra-inning loss to Iowa at the Lovelace Invitational in Denton, Texas on Friday, evening its record at 3-3 on the season.

Game one against Iowa was a defensive affair, going scoreless all the way until the top of the eighth inning when Iowa shortstop Megan Blank hit a two-run home run to give the Hawkeyes the lead. OSU scored one run on an RBI single by junior Ari Morrison, but fell 3-1.

In the second contest against North Texas, Samantha Chrisman was the star for the Cowgirls, collecting four RBIs in her first two at-bats to give OSU an early 4-0 lead, and the Cowgirls never looked back.

ARKANSAS FALLS TWICE –  The University of Arkansas softball team fell to the Hofstra Pride, 8-1 and the Florida State Seminoles in five innings on Friday in Tallahassee, Fla. at the Unconquered Invitational.

The Razorbacks (7-2) were able to muster four hits and score one run on a Devon Wallace solo home run against Hofstra’s Olivia Galati in the first game of the day, Arkansas’ first loss of the season. The hit plague continued in game two as Arkansas left seven runners on base against the Florida State Seminoles (5-1). Amanda Geile had a single in the game, giving her two hits on the day.
