Hilldale ex has key hit in opener

— Danielle Riddle had a pinch-hit single in the seventh to force extra innings and Oklahoma State went on to beat Southern Illinois-Edwardsville 2-1 and went 2-0 to open the season, also beating Central Arkansas 3-0 in the Tiger Classic at Baton Rouge, La., on Friday. The Hilldale grad was in her first game for OSU after transferring from Arkansas.

Tulsa swept its games at Boca Raton, Fla., beating St. John’s 5-1 and Ohio State 1-0. Tahlequah grad Erica Sampson led off for TU agianst St. John’s, going 1-for-4. She and Haskell product Jodi Edmiston were hitless playing catcher and center field against the Buckeyes. Sampson left Oklahoma after last season.
