JARVIS CHRISTIAN 7, BACONE 5 — In the Red River Conference Tournament at Shreveport, La., the late going was costly for the Warriors, who left the bases loaded in the seventh and the eighth innings and came away with just a run. Jean Ortiz’s fly to deep center in the eighth was snagged on the track for the final out.
Bacone (35-15) had 11 hits, led by Kyle Pietryga (3-for-4) and Wade Morton (3-for-5).
Adam Huizar went 4 2/3 innings and was the losing pitcher. He gave up 11 hits, struck out seven and walked none.
The Warriors play an elimination game at 11:30 a.m. today against Texas College.
OSU SWEEPS — Oklahoma State pushed its winning streak to four Saturday at TD Ameritrade Park as the Cowboys swept a doubleheader against Nebraska on the second day of the TD Ameritrade Classic.
OSU needed 10 innings to win the opener by a 5-3 count, and in the nightcap, sophomore southpaw Tyler Nurdin tossed a complete game gem, getting his first-career win in a 4-0 shutout performance. The opener marked the 14th time this season OSU has won in come-from-behind fashion
Tanner Krietemeier led the OSU offense on the day as he was 5-for-9 against his former team, while Rea added four hits and two RBIs.
CONNORS SOAKED OUT — Connors State’s baseball game at Northeastern A&M on Saturday was postponed due to wet playing conditions at Homa Thomas Field in Miami. The game has been rescheduled for 2 p.m. Monday in Miami. The two schools will play a doubleheader today at Biff Thompson Field beginning at 2 p.m., according to Cowboys head coach Perry Keith.
OKLAHOMA 6, TEXAS TECH 2 — Sooner right-hander Jonathan Gray (8-1) allowed one run on two hits in 7 2/3 innings as Oklahoma (33-10, 10-4 Big 12) ensured a series win over Texas Tech (19-24, 5-12). Craig Allen was 3-for-5 to lead Oklahoma while Matt Oberste was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Hilldale grad Jarrard Poteete was 0-for-4 hitting cleanup for the Red Raiders.
