MSSU 6-5, NSU 5-3 – Northeastern State dropped both games of a doubleheader against Missouri Southern State on Sunday in Tahlequah and was eliminated from the 2013 MIAA Championship. NSU (28-23) won the first game of the best-of-3 series on Saturday and needed to pick up just one win in Sunday’s doubleheader to advance.
CONNORS 8-4, ARK. BAPTIST 4-8 – Connors State concluded its regular season with a split at Arkansas Baptist on Sunday.
Daniel Concepcion improved to 7-1 with a complete-game victory in the opener, scattering six hits while striking out two while Victor Claudio had three hits for Connors (45-9), Korey Keith had two hits and Dalton Daniels hit his fifth home run of the season, a two-run blast in the third inning.
Game two saw Jordan Romano (5-3) absorb the loss while Tyler Fourkiller had two RBIs and Claudio driving home one run.
WEST VIRGINIA 9, OU 6 – West Virginia grabbed six two-out RBIs while Oklahoma stranded 13 baserunners as the Mountaineers took a win on in Charleston, W. Va., on Sunday. The Sooners’ loss and Kansas State's 9-3 win at Texas puts OU (34-11), West Virginia and Kansas State in a three-way tie for first in the Big 12 standings at 11-7.
OSU 3, TEXAS TECH 0 – Mark Robinette tossed the first complete game of his career, and Oklahoma State (34-12, 9-8 Big 12) scored three runs in the ninth inning to clinch a series win with a triumph over Texas Tech. Hilldale ex Jarrard Poteete went 1-for-4 for the Red Raiders.
ORU 8, LAMAR 6 – A two home-run game by Jose Trevino helped Oral Roberts University to a Southland Conference sweep at Lamar on Sunday.
The Golden Eagles swept an opponent on the road for the first time since doing so against IPFW in 2008. ORU’s record improves to 18-26 and 13-8 in conference play, and the Golden Eagles moved in front of the Cardinals (33-15, 12-9 Southland) who entered the weekend tied for first in the Southland Conference.
WESTERN 6, CONNORS 6 – Western broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning with two runs en route to a 6-2 won over Connors State to oust the Cowgirls from the NJCAA Region II Softball Tournament on Sunday at ASA Hall of Fame Complex, finishing the Cowgirls’ season at 27-35.
Connors managed six hits in the elimination game with Ashley Dunigan and Rikki Wooten each collecting two. Jessica Christian took the loss inside the circle for the Cowgirls.
OU 4-0, KANSAS 2-2 – The Sooners suffered just their second Big 12 loss of the season in the nightcap of Sunday’s doubleheader in being shut out for the second time in 2013. Keilani Ricketts (25-1) struck out 17 Jayhawks in the opener to get the win for OU (44-4, 12-2 Big 12) while Michelle Gascoigne (16-3) was tagged with the loss in the second game.
TEXAS 7, OSU 2 – Oklahoma State dropped the final game of the series to Texas on Sunday in Stillwater. Kat Espinosa started in the circle for the Cowgirls (30-23, 6-9 Big 12) and went five innings and allowed seven runs on 11 hits and struck out two.
TULSA 3, SOUTHERN MISS 1 – Tulsa (41-13-1, 19-5 C-USA) concluded the regular season with a victory over Southern Miss, completing the weekend Conference USA series sweep on Sunday.
ARKANSAS 5, AUBURN 0 – Arkansas completed a sweep of the Auburn Tigers on Sunday in Fayetteville, Ark., improving to 34-17, 12-10 in the SEC to finish above .500 in SEC play since 2000.
