Oklahoma’s Aaryn Ellenberg was named to the five-member Preseason All-Big 12 Women’s Basketball Team, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Though Brittney Griner has headed to the pros, it’s nonetheless another Lady Bear who landed the preseason player of the year honors. Conference coaches chose Oddyssey Sims, who was a Team USA teammate of Ellenberg at the World University Games over the summer.
That team, coached by OU women’s skipper Sherri Coale, brought the gold medal back from Kazan, Russia.
Joining Ellenberg and Sims on the preseason team are Hallie Christofferson of Iowa State, Imani McGee-Stafford of Texas and Asya Bussie of West Virginia.
Other individual honors went to Oklahoma State junior Marisha Wallace, who was named conference newcomer of the year after transferring from Northern Oklahoma College in Enid, as well as Baylor’s Ieshia Small, who was voted the conference’s preseason freshman of the year.
