College softball roundup

Phoenix Staff Reports

— CONNORS SPLITS— Chelsie Drew’s two-run walkoff home run in the seventh lifted the Cowgirls (30-11, 14-8 OCAC) over NEO (34-14, 21-5) to a 2-1 game one win. The Cowgils lost 9-0 and settled for a split. In the win, Taylor Canida (9-2) went three innings, gave way to Jessica Christian in the fourth and re-entered the game in the sixth to get the win.

OKLAHOMA 4, TEXAS 1 — At Norman, Georgia Casey sent a two-run bomb deep over the centerfield fence to break a 1-1 tie and put No. 12 OU (33-9, 10-1)  into the driver’s seat on the way to the win over the Longhorns (26-17, 6-2).

Mandy Ogle brought in the lone run for Texas on a third-inning home run that gave the Longhorns the lead. But that served only to ignite the Sooner offense, and OU (33-9, 10-1) responded by pushing across a run in the bottom half of the inning on an infield single by Brittany Williams. Williams also added another RBI on a solo home run three batters after Casey launched hers. The two teams meet again at 6:30 tonight.

OKLAHOMA STATE 2, BAYLOR 1 — At Stillwater, Hilldale grad Danielle Riddle had one of OSU’s four hits and drove the first of two runs in. Simone Freeman (19-10) held a shutout until the seventh and gave up four hits. OSU is 24-18, 4-7 Big 12 and Baylor fell to 30-10, 4-4.
