NSU SPLITS WITH SW BAPTIST – Sequoyah ex Ryan Helsley improved to 5-3 on the year, getting the win in the opener, as the RiverHawks spit their twinbill at Southwest Baptist on Friday. NSU won game one 3-2 before dropping the nightcap 8-7. Helsley pitched 4 2/3 innings and surrendered two earned runs on five hits with six strikeouts while NSU’s record moved to 20-23, 16-19 in MIAA action.

CONNORS 11, EASTERN 0 (7) – Landon Bradley tossed a five hitter as the fourth-ranked Connors State Cowboys (36-8, 8-3 OCAC) pounded out 13 base hits including two home runs to run-rule visiting Eastern Oklahoma State on Friday. Sequoyah ex Eric Kirkpatrick hit a 3-run home run, his sixth of the season, to close out the Cowboys’ scoring.

OU 5, W. VA. 3 – Mac James belted a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth to break a tie and lead the way as Oklahoma beat West Virginia on Friday. The Sooners improved to 25-15 overall, 5-6 in the Big 12 and snapped a five-game home losing streak.

OSU 7, KANSAS 0 – The Cowboys exploded for six runs in the seventh inning to defeat the Jayhawks on Friday. With the win, OSU improves to 27-11, 9-4 in the Big 12.

ORAL ROBERTS 5, HOUSTON BAPTIST 3 – The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 4-0 lead and held on to beat Houston Baptist on Friday. ORU improved to 21-17 on the season.

ARKANSAS 6, VANDERBILT 2 – The Razorbacks (24-15, 8-8 SEC) used a four-run first inning on Friday to race out to an early lead and defeat Vanderbilt (28-11, 7-9) in Fayetteville, Ark.


CONNORS TAKES TWO – Connors State, behind the pitching of Taylor Canida and Jessica Christian, swept Eastern Oklahoma State 3-2 in 13 innings in the opener and 8-0 in the nightcap on Friday in Wilburton. In the second game, Vian grad Chelsie Drew put the final four runs on the board for the Cowgirls (32-11, 16-7 OCAC) in the fifth inning with a grand slam, her 12th home run of the season.

TULSA SWEEPS UTSA – The Golden Hurricane improved to 40-5 overall, 14-2 in Conference USA, after taking both games on Friday at Texas-San Antonio, 4-0 and 12-11. Tahlequah ex Erica Sampson was 0-for-2 with a run scored in the first game while going 2-for-4 with three runs batted in and two runs cored in the nightcap. Haskell grad Jodi Edmiston drove in a run in Game 2 on a bases-loaded walk.

TEXAS 9, OU 0 (6) – The Longhorns evened their series with the Sooners with a run-rule win on Friday in Norman. The Sooners managed four hits in the game as they fell to 33-10, 10-2 in Big 12 action.

BAYLOR 10, OSU 2 – Three home runs, including two by Jordan Strickland, were too much for Oklahoma State to overcome as the Cowgirls fell to Baylor 10-2 on Friday in Stillwater. OSU drops to 24-19 overall, 3-8 in the Big 12.

KENTUCKY 4, ARKANSAS 3 – Kentucky erased a three-run deficit with three runs in the fifth inning and one in the sixth to beat Arkansas on Friday. The Razorbacks fell to 25-21 overall, 3-13 in the SEC.
