Men’s basketball

BACONE 87, TEXAS COLLEGE 85 – The Warriors held off the Steers to improve to 9-13 overall and 6-5 in the Red River Athletic Conference.

Creed Flowers led Bacone in scoring with 22, Matt Qualls added 20 and Deantre Harlan finished with 15 points and 16 boards while Geo Brewer and Christian Smith finished with 11.

TULSA 66, RICE 56 – Rashad Smith scored 18 points and James Woodard added 15 points to lead Tulsa to a Conference USA victory at Rice on Saturday.

Brandon Swannegan matched his career high with 10 points, and Smith and Woodard each grabbed seven rebounds for the Golden Hurricane (11-12, 6-3 C-USA). Max Guercy scored 17 points to lead the Owls (7-16, 2-8 C-USA).

ORAL ROBERTS 71, SE LOUISIANA 54 – Shawn Glover and Korey Billbury scored 21 points each with Glover adding 11 rebounds in leading Oral Roberts to a victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday night.

Bobby Word added 16 points for Oral Roberts, which has rebounded with three straight wins after losing four-straight prior.

Women’s basketball

BACONE 91, TEXAS COLLEGE 72 – Bacone held a 46-33 at halftime before leading by as much as 31 points in the second half.

The loss snapped a four-game losing skid and moved the Lady Warriors to 6-12 overall and 3-8 in the Red River Conference standings.

Dametria Dawson led Bacone in scoring with 24 points, Kyna Lewis added 17 points and 11 rebounds and Myriah Hadnot finished with 16.

ORAL ROBERTS 81, SE LOUISIANA 78 – Christian Key connected on a 35-foot shot as time expired to lead Oral Roberts University past Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday afternoon at the Mabee Center.

The Golden Eagles led by as many as 23 points in the 1st half but were even at 78-all when Key inbounded the ball 70 feet from the basket with 4.9 seconds left. Kaylan Mayberry drove to the basket and kicked the ball back to Key, who drained the game-winning shot with a hand in her face. The buzzer-beater was the first of Key’s collegiate career.

Mayberry led the Golden Eagles with 21 points, while Key finished with 17. The 8th-leading three-point shooter in ORU history, Key’s game-winner was the 135th trifecta of her career, but her first of the game.

FAU 91, TULSA 86 – Florida Atlantic’s 3-point shooting was too much for Tulsa as the visiting Owls scored a victory in front of 527 fans at the Donald W. Reynolds Center on Saturday.

FAU set a Reynolds Center record for three-pointers made as the Owls converted on 13-of-38 three-pointers against the Hurricane, breaking the previous mark of 12 3-pointers.

Two Tulsa players registered career-highs for points as Kelsee Grovey led the Hurricane with 24 points, followed by Mariah Turner’s career-best 19 points. Ashley Clark added 17 and Kadan Brady scored 11 points. Tulsa freshman Stevi Parker had her second straight double-figure rebounding game with 11 boards. This marked the second straight home game in which Grovey scored a career-best, as she tallied 23 points against Middle Tennessee in Tulsa’s last home game.
