OU 2, KANSAS 1 – The Sooners picked up their second straight 2-1 win at Kansas on Saturday. The Sooners improved to 20-8 overall and 4-1 in the Big 12, having won each of their first two league series, while the Jayhawks dropped to 17-10 and 2-3.

ARKANSAS, MISS. ST. SPLIT – Arkansas and Mississippi State split their doubleheader on Saturday in Starkville, Miss., with the Razorbacks taking the opener 4-0 and dropping the nightcap 5-1.

OSU 2, TCU 1 – Tim Arakawa drove in Gage Green with two out in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Cowboys over the horned Frogs on Saturday. For Arakawa, it was his only hit in four plate appearances in the game for OSU (18-9, 2-3 Big 12). Brendan McCurry (5-0), the fourth pitcher of the day for OSU, got the win after pitching a scoreless ninth inning.


BACONE SWEEPS AGAIN – The Lady Warriors made it back-to-back doubleheader sweeps with the two wins over Texas College, 17-3 and 9-1, on Saturday. Aleia Murphy was 5-for-7 in the two games for Bacone (15-21, 5-3 Red River Athletic Conference) with one home run, three runs scored and five RBIs. Rhiannon Bean was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and one RBI in the opener while Frankie Belcher was 2-for-3 with two runs scored in the nightcap.

CONNORS TAKES TWIN BILL – Connors State pounded out 29 base hits, including five home runs in routing Western Oklahoma State, 17-4 and 15-2, on Saturday.

Taylor Canida (7-1) and Kristen Reasnor (9-2) picked up the wins inside the circle as the Cowgirls improved to 21-4 for the season and 7-1 in conference play. Vian grad Chelsie Drew hit two of the five home runs, her seventh and eighth of the year, both coming in the nightcap.

NSU ROLLS – The RiverHawks grabbed both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday over Southwest Baptist, 6-2 and 7-5.

In the first game, Muskogee ex Madison Reed scored the second run of the game while Sequoyah grad Saharra Henson hit a home run.

OU 14, ISU 2 – Oklahoma extended its winning streak over the Cyclones to 20 straight with the run-rule win in Ames, Iowa, on Saturday. The Sooners (23-8, 2-0 Big 12) were led by Whitney Ellis who was 4-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Kady Self was 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs scored and two RBIs while Macey Hatfield was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

TULSA DOUBLE BLANKS UTEP – The Golden Hurricane took both ends of Saturday’s doubleheader against Texas-El Paso by identical 6-0 scores. The first game saw Tulsa (31-3, 8-0 C-USA) score all its runs in the home half of the first inning, the second run coming off the bat of Haskell ex Jodi Edmiston, while Aimee Creiger (14-1) tied her school record with 17 strikeouts in the circle. Game two was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when Tahlequah grad Erica Sampson came home with the first run of the game, the first of two in the game for the former Lady Tiger. Edmiston led Tulsa in game two with four RBIs, all coming on her third home run of the season in the fifth inning.

KANSAS 4, OSU 0 – The Cowgirls dropped game two of the three-game series against Kansas, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon at Arrocha Ballpark. Hilldale grad Danielle Riddle was one of seven OSU players with at least one hit while Shelby Davis went 2-for-4 and Tarah Ettinger was 2-for-3.

ARKANSAS DROPS BOTH TO A&M – The University of Arkansas softball team lost both games of a doubleheader Saturday to Texas A&M by scores of 8-7 and 9-8, respectively. Collectively, the Razorbacks launched five home runs during the twin bill, tying their season high with three during game two. Arkansas is now 23-13 overall and 2-6 in SEC play.
