Baseball

CONNORS 27-10, BACONE JV 3-0 –
Dalton Daniels had two home runs and Eli Roundtree hit a grand slam in the first game as the Cowboys swept the doubleheader.

Daniels’ home runs, his first two of the year, highlighted his three-hit game while Roundtree’s slam was his fifth of the season. Victor Claudio, Korey Keith, Tyler Fourkiller and Jiro Morales had two hits each

In game two, Yariel Gonzalez had three hits and four RBIs to pace Connors (16-1) which extended its winning streak to 14 straight. Claudio and Eric Kirkpatrick had two hits in the game.

Sawyer Barnard earned his fourth win of the year in game one, pitching four innings and striking out eight batters, while Colton Strother improved to 2-1, giving up one hit with six strikeouts.

NSU 4-10, UCO 0-7 – Northeastern State’s Kegan Knight hit his third home run of the season, a 3-run walk-off in the ninth of the second game, to lift the RiverHawks to a sweep of Central Oklahoma on Tuesday.

Hayden Walch allowed just four hits while striking out four in the first game. Chad Davidson led the NSU bats with a 3-for-4 performance while David Weber scored three runs.

OKLAHOMA 8, NEW MEXICO STATE 0 — Garrett Carey went 2 for 5 with three RBIs and Matt Oberste extended his hitting streak to 17 games with a 3-for-3 effort for OU (13-4).

Carey delivered the pivotal strike in the four-run sixth inning to blow the game open. He laced a two-out, two-run double to score Max White and Oberste that gave OU a four-run lead.

Ralph Garza Jr., (2-0) secured the victory. The left-hander entered in the third inning and threw 4 1/3 shutout innings. He struck out five and limited New Mexico State to five hits.

The teams return to L. Dale Mitchell Park at 6:30 p.m. today for the finale of the two-game series.

ARKANSAS 20, ALABAMA A&M 2 — For Arkansas (12-5), freshman Isaac Hellbusch laced his first career home run over the left field wall, and finished the day with two hits and a career high five RBI.

Jordan Farris and Willie Schwanke each had three hits, both career highs, while Brian Anderson had a career high four RBI.

Thomas Altimont got his first win as a Razorback, hurling 2.1 innings and allowing just one hit and one run.  

TEXAS 4, ORU 3 – Texas scored an unearned run in the bottom of the eighth to beat Oral Roberts in Austin, Texas, on Tuesday.

Alec Smith took the loss in relief giving up four hits. Tyler Boss was 2-for-3 and scored all three of ORU’s runs.



Softball

MURRAY STATE 4-2, CONNORS 1-1 —
Playing in Tishomingo on Tuesday, the Cowigirls dropped 12-14 for the season as Jerelyn Long and Jessica Christian were the losing pitchers.

Long threw a four-hitter in the first game and four of Murray State’s runs were unearned. Christian pitched a three-hitter in the nightcap. The Cowgirls 10 hits and stranded 15 runners in the two games.
