Evangel 6-4, Bacone 0-1 — Bacone had three hits in the opener while Lucy Walter (0-3) allowed five runs, four earned in four innings of work. Krissy Froelich drove in Kelli Costello with the Lady Warriors’ only run in the second game and Evangel got four unanswered runs off Taylor Paulson (1-2). Tarah Moutray was 3-for-4 in that game. Bacone (1-5) plays NSU in a twinbill on Saturday.
CONNORS 4-7, COFFEYVILLE (KAN.) 2-0 — Jessica Christian’s tiebreaking two-run double in the seventh won the opener for Connors (5-8), then she no-hit Coffeyville through five innings, allowing two hits in all with six strikeouts in a shutout performance.
The Cowgirls had 19 hits in all on the day. Ashley Dunigan, who stole seven bases in the two games, was 4-for-6 at the plate.
In the opener Jerelyn Long pitched the Cowgirls to a 2-2 tie before being relieved by Sammy Perry in the top of the seventh, when she pitched out of a bases-loaded one-out jam to thwart the Red Ravens rally. Long had three of her five hits on the day in that contest. Amanda O’Neal hit her second home run, a solo shot, to give Connors a 2-1 lead.
The Cowgirls scored two in the second and five in the fifth to make things easy for Christian in the circle.
