— Bacone VB suffers loss

BARTLESVILLE – The Bacone Lady Warriors fell short 3-0 (19-25, 20-25, 24-26) and 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 19-25, 18-25) to Oklahoma Wesleyan and Sterling College, respectively, to open the regular season.

Combined, Jade Tigilau led the way with 20 kills, Stephanie Aikens added 26 digs and Toree Misa'alefua registered 50 assists.

Bacone (0-2) today faces Mid-America Christian at 9 a.m. and McPherson College at 11 a.m. on day two of the Oklahoma Wesleyan invitational.



OU volleyball opens with win

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The University of Oklahoma volleyball team opened its 2013 season with a 3-0 sweep over UW-Milwaukee at the Holiday Inn West Invitational, hosted by Western Michigan,  on Friday afternoon.

Middle blocker Sallie McLaurin led all players with a match-high 17 kills, while hitting .517.

The Sooners bested the Panthers 25-16 in the first and 25-17 in the second before dominating the third, 25-11.

Setter Julia Doyle dished out 30 assists while libero Eden Williams picked up a team-high 10 digs.

The Sooners return to action today with a day-night doubleheader. Oklahoma takes on Northwestern at 9 a.m. followed by a 6 p.m. contest against host Western Michigan.
