UCM 6-16, NSU 2-11 – The RiverHawks (6-6, 6-6 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic) lost the first two games of a three-game series against No. 8 Central Missouri (8-1, 5-0 MIAA) on Sunday in Tahlequah.
Cody Robinson hit two home runs in the second game, and Cody Begovich recorded a pinch-hit homer – his first career hit – in the same contest.
OU 8, PEPPERDINE 1 – Oklahoma pounded out 10 hits as a team for the eighth time this season – including a season-high three home runs – to beat Pepperdine (7-5) in Norman on Sunday and capture the rubber game of the weekend series.
Jack Mayfield hit his second home run of the year while Max White and Garrett Carey each left the yard for the first time in 2013. Mayfield went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored while Carey finished 2-for-4.
UC-DAVIS 4, OSU 3 – Oklahoma State had its seven-game winning streak snapped Sunday in Stillwater as UC Davis rallied for two runs in the ninth inning to earn the win.
The loss was the first at home for the Cowboys this season as they fell to 9-2 overall, while UC Davis improved to 6-6.
PACIFIC 4, ARKANSAS 3 – Pacific scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth, capped by a walk-off single from Eric Lockwood, to defeat Arkansas on Sunday afternoon at the Surprise, Ariz., Recreation Complex.
The Razorbacks are now 7-5 on the season, while Pacific improves to 4-6 with the win.
ARKANSAS (W) 93, MISSISSIPPI 52 – Arkansas’ Sarah Watkins dropped in a game-high 22 points leading the Razorbacks to a win over Mississippi in the Southeastern Conference finale in Fayetteville, Ark., on Sunday.
The Razorbacks claim the No. 8 seed in this week’s SEC tournament and will play No. 9 Florida in their first-round game at 11 a.m. Thursday in Duluth, Ga. For the complete bracket, see Page 2B.
UAB 59, TULSA (W) 45 – The Tulsa women’s basketball team fell to UAB on Sunday in Birmingham, Ala.
TU dropped to 12-16 on the season and 7-8 in Conference USA, while the Blazers moved to 17-11 overall and 8-7 in the league.
CONNORS 3-2, MARSHALLTOWN (Iowa) 4-1 –Jessica Christian tossed a two hitter in the nightcap of a doubleheader on Sunday fueling the Cowgirls to a victory over Marshalltown, Iowa, gaining a split in Sunday’s doubleheader.
Vian ex Chelsie Drew, was 1-for-3 at the plate, including a home run, her second of the year.
The Cowgirls are now 8-10 for the season and will open Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference play at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Warner against Northeastern A&M.
OU 4, HOUSTON 1 – Brittany Williams and Georgia Casey each drove in two runs as Oklahoma ended its four-game homestand with a victory over Houston on Sunday.
NEBRASKA 3-10, OSU 0-5 – Oklahoma State dropped two games to Nebraska on Sunday in Stillwater.
TULSA 2, LAMAR 1 – The Golden Hurricane claimed the UT Arlington Classic championship with a win over Lamar on Sunday in Arlington, Texas.
Former Haskell Lady Haymaker Jodi Edmiston singled and stole second with two out in the bottom of the seventh, and scored the winning run on a throwing error to give the Golden Hurricane (15-5) the walk-off win.
