BACONE 8, HUSTON-TILLOTSON 3 – The Warriors improved to 13-7 on the season with the win in Austin, Texas, on Saturday.

Ricardo Barbosa and Steven Smith led the way as both had 3-for-5 days at the plate with Smith driving three runs while Barbosa drove in two and scored one. Jean Ortiz, Peter Rodriguez and Jonathan Villela had two hits each with Rodriguez scoring three times and driving in two.

Matt Durbin got the win, going eight innings and giving up just three hits.

CONNORS 7-12, ELLSWORTH (Iowa) 3-5 – The Cowboys improved to 9-1 on the year by taking both games of the doubleheader against Ellsworth (Iowa) on Saturday.

Kelvin Rivas go the win in the first game, his first of the season, giving up one earned run in five innings with six strikeouts while Andrew Simonetti got his first victory of the year, pitching 3 1/3 innings with two strikeouts and three hits.

Victor Claudio, Dalton Daniels and Korey Keith had two hits in the opener and Christian Perez banged out his first home run of the season, a 2-run blast in the fifth inning. In the nightcap, Eli Roundtree had two hits and four RBIs, two coming on his third home run of the season in the fifth inning, while Hunter Simpson had three hits and Claudio and Tyler Fourkiller each had two hits.

OSU 10, UC-DAVIS 4 – The middle of the Oklahoma State lineup carried the Cowboys to their seventh-straight win Saturday as OSU topped UC Davis in Stillwater.

At 9-1, OSU is off to its best start since 2009 when the Cowboys also won nine of their first 10 games.

The Cowboys’ 4-5-6 hitters – Tanner Krietemeier, Zach Fish and Victor Romero – torched UCD pitching in Saturday’s win as that trio combined to drive in all 10 of OSU’s runs and collect eight hits of its 16 hits. Fish and Krietemeier each had three hits, while Fish tied a career high with four RBIs.

PEPPERDINE 7, OU 2 – The Sooners suffered their first defeat of the 2013 season, falling to Pepperdine on Saturday in Norman.

Matt Oberste led Oklahoma, going 3-for-4 with a triple and his team-leading fourth home run of the year. Kolbey Carpenter tallied a career-high three hits while Craig Aikin contributed two base hits.

Jonathan Gray fanned seven over six innings but was saddled with the loss, falling to 2-1 on the season.

ARIZONA STATE 3, ARKANSAS 1 – Arkansas starter Trey Killian struck out nine and only allowed two runs on three hits in 6 1/3 innings, but his outing was not enough as Arizona State defeated the Razorbacks on Saturday night in Surprise, Ariz..

Arkansas drops to 7-4 with the loss, while Arizona State improves to 7-2 with the win.

Tyler Spoon led Arkansas at the plate with a pair of hits. Spoon extended his hitting streak to 11 games and recorded his fourth multi-hit game of the season. Joe Serrano drove in Arkansas’ only run of the night and went 1-for-4 at the plate.
