Legends take down 66ers

FRISCO, Texas – The Tulsa 66ers fell to the Texas Legends, 106-82, on Sunday at Dr. Pepper Arena.

Andy Rautins went 7-for-10 from 3-point range en route to a team-best 23 points with four rebounds. Ron Anderson posted 15 points with six rebounds, four assists, two steals and a blocked shot while Rasual Butler added 10 points with six rebounds and two assists.

ARKANSAS (W) 91, ALABAMA 80 – It took three overtimes, career nights from Dominque Wilson and Jhasmin Bowen and five players fouling out but the University of Arkansas women’s basketball team hung on for a 91-80 triple overtime win at Alabama in Southeastern Conference play in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Sunday.

The win moves the Razorbacks to 16-8 overall and 4-7 while Bama fell to 12-12 and 2-9 in the SEC.

Wilson, a freshman from Power Springs, Ga., stepped up with 19 points including an 8-for-8 night from the free-throw line. Bowen also finished with 19 points and eight rebounds while Quistelle Williams had her fifth double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

TULSA (W) 67, TULANE 65 – Taleya Mayberry, Kelsee Grovey and Tiffani Couisnard all scored in double figures to lead Tulsa to a 67-65 lead over Tulane on Sunday afternoon at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

The Golden Hurricane moved to 9-13 on the season and 4-5 in Conference USA, while the Green Wave fell to 17-5 overall and 6-3 in the league.

Mayberry had a team-leading 24 points and four assists, and added seven rebounds and a steal, while Grovey recorded 16 points and Couisnard had 10 points and game-bests of nine rebounds, four steals and two blocks.

Tulsa had 26 points in the paint, 23 points off turnovers and 13 second-chance points, and shot 40-percent from the field, 38-percent from three-point range and 71-percent from the charity stripe.

KAJIKAWA CLASSIC – Georgia Casey slugged a pair of home runs and drove in five runs as No. 2 Oklahoma rallied for a 7-4 win over Northwestern on Sunday in the final game of the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz.

The win puts OU at 5-0 on the season for the second season in a row, while the Wildcats drop to 0-5 on the year.

Keilani Ricketts, who opened the season with back-to-back no-hitters, lasted two innings and gave up four runs on four hits with four strikeouts. Michelle Gascoigne came on in relief and earned the win. She pitched the final five innings and yielded just three hits to go with eight strikeouts.

Casey finished the game going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and five RBIs while Callie Parsons was 3-for-3 with one run scored.

RED DESERT CLASSIC – The University of Arkansas softball team topped the Utah Utes on Sunday, 5-1 at the Red Desert Classic in St. George, Utah.

Arkansas finished the Red Desert Classic with a 5-0 record. This is the first time in Arkansas softball history that a team has started 5-0. Previously, the best start for the Hogs was 4-1 in 2012.

Leading the way for the Razorbacks on Sunday was senior Chelsea Cohen, allowing only one run with six strikeouts and allowed four hits, and freshman Stephanie Canfield, who went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI.

Oklahoma State’s final game of the tournament against Tennessee was canceled because of frigid temperatures.

SOUTHEASTERN INVITATIONAL – The final day of the Southeastern Regional Invitational was canceled on Sunday because of heavy rains overnight.

Northeastern State was scheduled to play No. 4 Angelo State and Cameron.
