TEXAS TECH 5, OSU 2 — Oklahoma State (32-12, 7-8) tied a season high with four errors at Texas Tech (22-24, 7-12) and had four hits. Losing pitcher Jason Hursh allowed five runs, just two of them earned, on seven hits, Hilldale grad Jarrard Poteete was 0-for-3 for Tech.

ORU 8, LAMAR 0 — Alex Gonzalez earned his seventh win of the season as he went eight innings, struck out seven batters and allowed just four hits. Tyler Boss was 4-for-4 for the Golden Eagles, now (16-25, 11-8 Southland). Lamar is 33-13, 12-7.

OU 4, W. VIRGINIA 3 (10) — Craig Aikin’s fielder’s choice grounder produced the decisive run for OU (34-12, 11-5 Big 12). Jonathan Gray, the Big 12’s leader in strikeouts and earned run average, pitched opposite West Virginia’s Harrison Musgrave, who earned National Pitcher of the Week honors two weeks ago after a complete game shutout at Texas. WVU is, 27-20, 9-7. Neither would earn a decision.

Softball

CONNORS SPLITS — Connors State suffered a 1-0 loss to Northeastern A&M in the quarterfinalos of the NJCAA Region II tournament in Oklahoma City after defeating Rose State 7-2 in the first round.

The Cowgirls (24-34) play Eastern (21-33) in an 11 a.m. elimination game. Eastern lost 8-1 to Seminole then beat Carl Albert 3-2. The winner plays again at 3 p.m.

Bailey Douthan’s RBI single was the difference in the opener. Connors had just two hits against Kaitlin Davis. Amanda O’Neal (5-5) took the loss, giving up just three hits in five innings.

The Cowgirls had 12 hits against Rose State for their fifth win in six games in the season series. Sammy Perry had a pair of doubles to lead the way.

EMPORIA STATE 6, NSU 1 — NSU moved into the loser’s bracket in the MIAA Championship at Overland Park, Kan. Cayce Coleman finished 2-for-4, Amanda Harjo was 2-for-2 at the plate. Madison Reed recorded the other NSU hit. The fifth-seeded RiverHawks (26-23) play No. 8 seed Northwest Missouri at 11 a.m. today.

NORTHWOOD 6, BACONE 5 — In the RRAC tournament at Farmers Branch, Texas, Bacone led 5-2 but a rally put them in a noon elimination game against Texas Wesleyan. The winner gets Northwood in the championship game at 4 p.m.Chelsea Schuler was 3-for-4 for the Lady Warriors (22-23) Tarah Moutray was 2-for-4 with a home run.
