Connors SB streak ends
CHANUTE, Kan. – Connors State had its 12-game winning streak come to an end as the Cowgirls split with Neosho, Kan. on Thursday, winning the opener15-2 and falling in the nightcap 4-2.
The Cowgirls are now 13-1 heading into a Tuesday matchup at home with Carl Albert State College in an Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference clash.
The Cowgirls pounded out 13 base hits in the first game, which included three home runs, two by Vian grad Chelsie Drew (2-run and 3-run shots), her fourth and fifth of the season, while Hilldale ex Erin Isham connected for her fourth of the year, a three-run blast.
TU grabs share of C-USA title
DENTON, Texas – Rashad Ray and James Woodard each scored 18 points to lead Tulsa to a 79-68 win at North Texas Thursday and earn a share of the Conference USA regular season championship at The Super Pit.
Tulsa (18-12, 13-3 C-USA) earned its first conference regular season title since 2002.
The Hurricane have won eight games in a row, and won 13 conference games for the first time since the 2001-02 season when it finished with a 15-3 conference mark.
OU’s third inning downs ACU
NORMAN – The Oklahoma baseball team pushed across three runs in the fourth inning to provide all of the offense in a 3-1 win over Abilene Christian at L. Dale Mitchell Park, on Thursday. The Sooners improved to 9-4 with the win, while the Wildcats dropped to 6-4.
Junior Mac James drove in the first run of the game on a double to right-center, scoring Hunter Haley. James took third on the throw home and scored on a base hit through the right side by junior Taylor Alspaugh.
The final run of the frame came home on a double down the right-field line by junior Keach Ballard.
